ChargerFinder

Privacy Policy

ChargerFinder has no user accounts, and you never need to give us personal information to use the site.

Your location

The “Find chargers near me” feature asks your browser for your location only when you use it: when you tap the button on the home page, or when you open the Near me page, whose only purpose is that search. Your coordinates are used once, to run that single search, and are never stored, logged, or shared. Declining the permission simply disables the feature.

So that the Back button returns you to your results, the list of stations found is kept in your browser tab for up to 30 minutes. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is erased when you close the tab. If you pick a preferred maps app for directions, that choice is also saved only in your browser.

Reports and comments

On a station page you can tell us whether a charger worked, and optionally add a short comment. This is anonymous: there is no account, and we do not ask for your name or email. Please do not put personal information, yours or anyone else's, in a comment.

Every comment is read by a person before it can appear on the site. Comments that are not approved are never published.

To keep automated spam out, a check by Cloudflare Turnstile runs when you start a report. It loads only at that moment, not when you browse. Cloudflare processes technical signals from your browser, including your IP address, under its own privacy policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy), and tells us only whether the check passed.

To limit how many reports one connection can send, we keep a scrambled, one-way fingerprint of your IP address. It cannot be turned back into your IP address, it changes every day, and it is deleted within two days. Your IP address itself is never stored with your report.

If you add a photo of a station, it is resized on your own device before it is uploaded, and that step removes the information cameras embed in a photo, including the location where it was taken. Photos are reviewed by a person before they appear, and photos that are not approved are deleted. Please do not upload photos in which people or licence plates can be identified.

If you tap Directions, your browser remembers which station it was, so that a later visit can ask whether the charger worked. That note stays on your device and is never sent to us. It is replaced the next time you ask for directions, and you can dismiss the question.

To have a comment you wrote removed, contact us through the contact page and tell us the station and roughly when you posted it.

Hosting & logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, requested page, browser type) for security and operations. We do not use these logs to identify visitors.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country and city, as Google estimates it from the connection), what kind of device they use, and whether features such as directions, sharing and the near me search get used. This is how we decide what to improve.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so that it can tell one visit from another. It does not tell us who you are, and we never send it your name, your email address, your precise location, or the text of anything you write. Google processes this data under its own terms, described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can decline this measurement and the site will work exactly the same. Block cookies for this site in your browser, use a content blocker, or install Google's opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Advertising

The site does not show advertising today and sets no advertising cookies. If we introduce advertising in the future, ad partners may use cookies to serve ads, subject to their own policies, and this page will be updated before that happens.
